The success of every nation depends largely on the education of its citizens. Because of its relevance, nations do not hesitate to budget heavily to meet the educational needs of their citizens. Education is the best inheritance a father or mother can give to their children. However, the modern trends and societal needs have changed and people who pursue education need to be equipped with some form of moral standards to guide their activities. For instance, the emergence of corruption, poor use of technology and negative practices in both communities and educational institutions demand ethics of social justice by highlighting the effects of unethical behavior of organizations .This demands that for quality education to be achieved, it must move side by side with ethical leadership.

Ethical leadership has a relationship with education and its management because it is characterized by management decision function, communication, planning, and determining educational policies. Educational institutions focusing on ethical leadership have respect for ethical beliefs and values and the dignity and rights of others. Therefore, school authorities need to adopt multiple ethical approach that can examine and utilize different ethical perspective in the management of educational administration. The following highlights the importance of ethical leadership in education.

To begin with, ethics is a concept which is important for societies, groups or individuals in general.  For this reason, leaders in educational institutions must make it their ultimate goal to inculcate the value of truth, honesty, respect, faithfulness, obedience and just in students. In essence, students when nurtured with ethics will go a long way to create a perfect society. This can be achieved when school authorities are able to create an atmosphere that ensure good ethics in the school environment.

Ethical leaders can identify both staff and students who show the qualities of excellence and then go on to recognize and promote them in ways that create goodwill among all members of the school community.

In addition, ethical leadership has an added advantage of helping an individual to be responsible. In education, ethical leaders serve as role models for students, teachers and administrators in their schools. Students are moved by what they observe in the school community. The attitudes of school authorities has a direct impact on the students they are nurturing. This demands school authorities to create opportunity for students to reflect on ethics in order to clarify their understanding of rights and wrongs. With this, ethics is important in education because it assists to run the educational system smoothly. The ethics set the standard of what is acceptable and what is not and helps to protect the interest of both teachers and students. In this case leaders needs to live ethically to set as a remodel for students.

Ethical leaders are known for being fair and just, respectful of others, honest, committed to develop a sense of community and team spirit and making decisions based on value which facilitate on creating a model in education. Individuals who are able to learn these ethics are able to adapt to the environment they find themselves and always learn to live in harmony with others in the society.

Further, another major reason why ethical leadership must be championed in educational institutions is its relevance in the economic development of a country. When students are equipped with good ethics in schools, it becomes part of them which propels them to fit well in the society. In educational institutions ethical leadership consciously or unconsciously are picked by learners through administration, planning, communication and decision making of school leaders. When students are able to develop the needed ethics, it helps them to achieve their career goals. Good ethics are seen as accepted norms and standards cherished in our society and work place. Therefore,

when students in future enter the job market or gain employment, they are able to abide by rules and regulations. With this, they conform and adhere to positive work ethics because they were introduced to them when in school. This helps such students to develop and improve productivity wherever they find themselves.

To draw the curtains down, it is seen from the aforementioned points the pivotal role ethical leadership plays in lives of students and educational institutions as well as the society. Ethical and responsible decision making is a key component of good governance. If a country fails to factor ethical leadership in its educational system, it will ultimately become vulnerable which in turn will produce inferior and corrupt products of education. However, embracing a culture that reflects trustworthiness and integrity, leaders are able to achieve sustainable, social and aid economic development.
